My horses and I moved into a rental this winter, there is a smaller pasture but a much larger barn with alot of nooks and crannies. This one, unlike my last barn, has a tack room adjoining the actual stall area. Well one night, while feeding I forgot to close the stall door, it was only open a crack and I didn't think my half-arabian gelding could get his fat nose through it, well he did, and behind my back while I was in the other room, he snuck out to have all 14h of him standing in the tack room, looking around for grain. When I actually realized what he was doing, thanks to my 13 year old terrior trying to herd him back in and nipping at his heels, I was astounded. Knowing he wouldn't send my little dog flying, I stood and watched for a while, and decided to put him back in the stall when he walked toward the stacks of hay and toddled a half used bale of hay over on my yapping dog with his nose, poor thing was lost under a pile of alfalfa for a minute. Anyways, this is an example of the crazy things your horses can do when you change their environment, I have alot more dog stories, heck, I have alot more dogs!!
